During his career, lasting from 1945 to the early 2000s, Arthur Zelger (1914–2004) was the most significant Tyrolean graphic artist. He designed influential posters for the regional tourism marketing branch and created numerous logos for Tyrolean businesspeople. However, his legacy can also be found on plenty of local façades. On the old house on the corner of Anichstrasse and Maria-Theresien-Strasse, the logo of the former fashion store Zelger, which was located there for many decades, is still visible. The unpretentious heraldic style guarantees an appearance of historical significance. It is possible that an actual family crest served as an inspiration. After a redesign, a cloth band from a first draft developed into a graphical shape. The letter “Z” from a slab serif linear antiqua is a true eye-catcher. The narrow lettering located below also features the slab serifs so typical of Egyptienne typefaces.
