Fünf Streifzüge in die Welt der Zeichen und Schriften des öffentlichen Raums.
The lovingly executed lettering of the Kröll bakery in the Hofgasse in Innsbruck's old town proves that such traditional pastries as strudel can certainly be advertised with modern typography. Here, a so-called “slab serif”, a modern interpretation of an advertising typeface with oversized serifs, is used. These typefaces appeared at the beginning of the 19th century and were called “Egyptienne” because of the wide-spread enthusiasm for Egypt associated with Napoleon's military campaign. It most likely triggers your appetite for strudel, coffee, and a good conversation.
